Charming little Freret Street eatery! I had the Cecil's salad with fried oysters and it was delicious! The oysters were lightly dusted in cornmeal and fried to perfection. Service was not the greatest, but the restaurant was full and I suspect our server had a large section of tables. We waited for drink refills for a while and it took her a long time to pick up our credit cards/process them for payment. She was very friendly, but visibly hurried each time she was at the table.

Always good. Slow roasted pork and green beans today. Very fine cocktails.

Wow, where do I start. The Pimento Mac and Cheese is amazing, the best I’ve ever eaten. It was Tuesday so the special was the fried chicken which comes with greens and pimento Mac and cheese (yum). The chicken had a tasty, crispy skin and juicy inside. The greens have a soulful taste with the just the right amount of heat. Did I mention the creamy, out of this world Mac and cheese yet? Yeah, pretty much all I talk about. Will be going by on my way out of town to get a Mac and cheese for the road. Must give a nod to the warm croutons on the salad and flavorful pie!

Our Lyft driver recommended this place! We were not disappointed

Great food and atmosphere. We live in NOLA and come here often. I live to se the daily specials on the board and the hibiscus tea is always great. If the have the fried chicken be sure to get it. The pimento Mac and cheese is always great.

Great grub, prompt service at very reasonable prices. The red beans and rice were very delicious.

Best Chicken & Waffles/Egg plate, and Tamales Appetizer in NOLA! Great Service and Owner comes out and talks to the Patrons. Family atmosphere and quick service! Grapefruit Mimosa and Brewed Ice Tea is on Point! Will definitely be back!

Good food, not the friendliest service in the world. Had the 4 piece catfish basket. Was glad I got the four piece as the catfish pieces are on the smallish side. These was an ample serving of above average French fries, and a condiment container with Cole slaw. That was an odd one. I'm guessing the value of Cole slaw had shot up. There are four restaurants in the strip mall and this was by far the busiest. Recommended.

Food was pretty good, the service was good with the exception of one woman. She was short with glasses - just avoid her. She was obviously not liking her job. We had ordered a side of green beans with an entree, my elderly mother thought they would come on the plate. The short girl comes and delivers our food with no green beans. My mother politely said, “I also ordered a side of green beansâ€. As someone in customer service, a simple “they’re on there way out†is respectable and acceptable. But no, little Ms Sassypants snaps around and said “I only have two handsâ€. Um ok. There’s other restaurants with better customer service. And from reading other reviews sounds like she has a reputation.

Went for Sunday brunch. Great fried chicken and waffles, with their High Hat hot sauce, and maple syrup. Space Cowboy is a bit spicy and hits hard. Apple pie with bourbon ice cream is solid. Boudin was also solid. Yummy!

This is an interesting place to review specially because I was accompanied by locals even though we were visiting from Seattle my husband and his mom know New Orleans very well.. To Me the food was great I had chicken and waffles their syrup was amazing it tasted like the type they used to served back in the day. As soon as we sat down my husband mentioned that the place might as well be in Seattle with the hippie, spanking new vibes. Neighborhood felt gentrified. No doubt. The service was fantastic and the place is super clean. I would recommend it and I know that most of the people I know would like it and have no issues with my perception of the neighborhood.

Authentic New Orleans food with excellent service. The fried oyster Po-boy was one of the best I've ever had, the sweet potato salad was delicious too. Definitely worth visiting

Now on my list of favorite places! I'm on a Mac and Cheese journey, and their Pimento M&C iteration is on point. It was bubbling hot, and the One Eyed Bacon Burger was amazing. Excellent service, great atmosphere, great location.

A nice bar type restaurant that is in a nice area. This is the first place I ate during my first visit to new Orleans. It didn't disappoint. I had a catfish poboy and it was great. The service here was fantastic, it really was southern hospitality at its finest.

Great food and great service. Staff is very friendly. The owner was very good about explaining to me which items on the menu were gluten-free. I have celiac disease and was able to enjoy Gumbo here :). Highly recommend and we will be back when we visit New Orleans again!

Pancake and BBQ shrimp was excellent. Pretty long wait after order for food to arrive but the wait to get in wasn’t too bad during the weekend brunch times.

Fish tasted very fishy. Customer service was lackluster..... new to town and still on a hunt for a nice, solid catfish fillet meal that matches Orlandeaux's in Shreveport or the old Shreveport Freeman & Harris sigh.... I won't be back

Seriously great southern food & imaginative cocktails. One of the most simple, yet delicious menu items in the city!

The first time I went here I got the fried shrimp po' boy and it was very very average. That being said, I High Hat isn't famous for their poor boys so I decided to try it one more time. I ended up getting the seared gulffish with green beans and it was phenomenal. Great service friendly staff definitely will come back.

Excellent. Had the 4500 cocktail: perfect flavor, not too sweet. Started with the boudin: yum. Had oysters remoulade po'boy, hubby had shrimp po'boy: deliciously messy. Finished with strawberry pie: ok, and the peanut black bottom pie with Jack Daniel's ice cream: perfect. Loved the atmosphere and the food was spot on. Recommend!

The menu comprises a list of foods that are each prepared precisely how I believe food should be made. Ingredients are consistently excellent. Preparation is always spot on. The seasoning is usually right where I like it as well.Mondays are red beans and rice with fried chicken.Tuesday is fried chicken with pimento Mac and cheese.I always start with the gumbo as it's one of my favorites in the city, but I finish with the pies as they possess the right proportion of crust to filling.

They were very accommodating. The bbq gulf shrimp are good. They have the best grits I have ever eaten in my life.

Went to High Hat on the recommendation of a local friend in the food industry while on a quest to find the best mac and cheese in the city. Man, oh man, i think i found it! The creamy pimento mac and cheese came as a side with the Tuesday fried chicken special along with collards. The mac was delicious and I could have had two more servings! The collards were perfect, as was the fried chicken. They gave me four pieces of chicken and I couldnt even finish two. So much food for the value! My friend had the half chicken, also with mac. She was delighted with how good it was. The servers were extremely fast, attentive, and friendly. The only downside to the trip was the gunfire outside. Otherwise, a perfect stop!

Just landed from the Midwest to spend a day or 2 before our cruise. Lovely little joint, friendly staff, great food. I enjoyed the catfish and green beans. Excellent dish.

Brought friends who were visiting from Los Angeles along with a couple who lives here in town also. Everyone loved the food and evidently the cocktails which continued to flow. I always enjoy because it's a neighborhood spot. ðŸ‘ðŸ½

You won't have better down home cooking classed up with fine dining expertise in the kitchen than you'll find here. The wait staff, the ambiance, and the food itself were outstanding.

While family loved it! Classic neighborhood joint with great southern food.

Great service, unique and comfortable atmosphere, fabulous food. I will definitely be returning during my next visit to NOLA!

Excellent walk up Cafe with a focused and tasty menu. I had the oyster po-boy as recommended by the waitress was perfect. Details like homemade and still warm croutons on the side salad I opted for instead of fries, and beautiful ripe tomatoes, and homemade pickles took this meal from 4 to 5 stars for me. I'll definitely return for more.

Yummy. Fresh. Excellent bloody Mary’s. The service was wonderful as well.

Met our son and daughter n law here before they flew back home. Very crowded, trendy corner cafe. Food was excellent. Hand cut fries, today's special was Amberjack and Shrimp Creole. I ordered the Cuban a little too much pork, it overpowered the other ingredients, but my bread was great.

Really good customer service, they check up one you often but aren't overwhelming. The flat top catfish was delicious, seasoned very well, and the sweet potato salad was awesome. It's a cozy dim lit place.

Fried catfish was very good. Wife loved the homemade pickles and gumbo. Didn't care so much for the flat iron catfish and greens. Bar service was subpar at best. Suggest you wait for a table
